Lucille's journals provide a personal account of her work with others. Much of her activism work she did with her friends and her journals show a sharp contrast to the files. The journals made reference to people casually as just friends, even when she is referencing work. In the journal entry in 1971, she talks a bit about her work with Dave van de Mark.
Many of her journals give only hints as to the work she was doing at that time and can only be understood in context with other pieces of her collection. For researchers, looking at dates of interest in her journals can often be a good place to start.
