Lumber companies were very complex and utilized the land to their advantage. Cutting down the trees and moving them from the forest is already one incredibly difficult task (but that's just the start). The milling process beings by placing logs in their ponds which created a more efficient way to maneuver these enormous logs around. Then following an assembly line for further processing continued.
